Painting Story
This piece is significant for me as it’s the first time I’ve painted depicting my ancestor's guidance and support. Before I begin any creative session, I ask for their guidance to create and give them permission to send me energy and thoughts. Overwhelmingly, their spirit fills me with love, calmness and ideas. I know they are here with me in spirit, looking over me. This painting depicts them in the Dreamtime, the spirit world.
It depicts their life experiences and their spirit energy trickles into my physical world, protecting me, teaching me and guiding me to create.
I will return to them in my spirit animal form, the turtle you see that is swimming between the physical realm and Dreamtime.
My ancestors gave me the artistic gifts I possess and they have told me to create to show others our good spirit energy and spread love, positivity and the beauty of our mixed cultures. This piece is important and close to my heart. It will not be the last time that I paint depicting this message but it is the first time.
